The
soil of the Saint-Saturnin vineyards :
Saint-Saturnin is situated at the foot of the Larzac, and its vineyards
spread over 760 hectares and over four communes: Arboras, Jonquières,
Saint-Guiraud and Saint-Saturnin de Lucian.
The vineyards' altitude varies between 100 metres in Jonquières
and 300 metres in Arboras which means wine-picking is spread out
accordingly and this provides time for the grapes, whatever their
altitude, to acquire optimum maturity.
Here is how we can best describe our "terroir" : a generally clayey-calcareous
and extremely stony soil enriched by the subtle changes in geographic
climate due to its circumference, and a dry climate in the summer
that limits the yield.
The cooperative associates are influential links between the soil
and Saint-Saturnin's produce and are first and foremost proud of
their "terroir".
